The Martinetta, a forerunner of the famous Variophon, is a monophonic electronic wind instrument invented in 1975 by Jobst Peter Fricke, Wolfgang Voigt and Jürgen Schmitz at the Acoustic Department of the Musicological Institute of the University of Cologne. Initially it was built in a small series by the company Ernest Martin KG. It is one of the rare synthesizers in which the principle of pulse forming is used as a way of sound synthesis.

In this application, you can view this worldwide unique model of the Martinetta prototype from all sides and play it virtually (also available as Kontakt-Library).
